Because dogs differ so broadly in e.g., size, mass, and fur, and thus, having a different ability to naturally keep warm at night, we would not be able to accurately temperature test the sleeping bag to provide a temperature rating as on human sleeping bags.

During warmer climates, your pup might just use it as a bed, while during colder trips–or dogs that generally sleep colder–your pup can snuggle up inside for extra warmth.

This sleeping bag compares to a 3-season sleeping bag. When winter/snow camping, please ensure you have the right sleeping system for your dog to keep them warm and safe.

For reference, the two dogs featured in the pictures are around 35lbs and 55lbs of weight and are using a Medium size sleeping bag. The specific size that might be right for your dog also depends on how they would use it (e.g., curled up inside, laid on top, or “just” covered with it.)

5. I received my dog sleeping bag but it’s all flat and thin, what should I do?

During storage and shipping, the dog sleeping bag has been compressed for an extended time and will appear flat and thin when unpacking; this is normal. The same happens with human down sleeping bags. After unpacking it (and before each use) fluff it with your hands, this will help separate the down filling and distribute it evenly and will plush up the sleeping bag.

When not in use, store it outside of the compression sack–ideally hanging–just as you would with your own sleeping bag.
